What should I compare between course providers?
Price, format, and accreditation are the big three. For a state boater card, confirm the course is NASBLA-approved and accepted in your state. For a captain’s license, the course is one step — you’ll also need sea time, a TWIC, and a medical exam regardless of provider.
Do these prices include everything?
No — the price shown is the course tuition. State boater-safety courses may add a small state fee, and a USCG captain’s license carries separate federal costs (TWIC, application fees, and a medical exam) on top of tuition. Always check the provider’s checkout for the final total.
